”G.H.G. Institute of Law, Sidhwan Khurd, under the aegis of Shri Guru Hargobind Ujagar Hari Trust and under the able guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Shweta Dhand, organized an expert talk on the topic “AI in Legal Research: Issues and Challenges” on 8th September 2026.
The expert speaker for the session was Mr. Anand Pawar, Sr.Dean and Head, School of Law, Lovely Professional University, phagwara who shared his valuable insights on the emerging role of Artificial Intelligence in legal research and education.During the expert talk, Mr. Anand Pawar elaborated on the growing use of Artificial Intelligence in legal research and discussed its potential to make legal research faster, more efficient, and accessible. He explained both the positive and negative uses of AI in the legal field. He highlighted the benefits of AI in areas such as legal research, information retrieval, analysis of legal documents, and improving efficiency. At the same time, he sensitized the audience about challenges including the accuracy and reliability of AI-generated information, ethical concerns, data privacy, plagiarism, bias, and the risk of over-dependence on technology.The expert emphasized that Artificial Intelligence should be used as an assisting tool and not as a substitute for human reasoning, professional judgment, and critical legal analysis. He encouraged the students and faculty to develop the skills necessary to use AI responsibly, ethically, and effectively in academic and professional legal practice.
The programme was further graced by the presence of S. Pritam Singh Johal, Secretary, and S. Pardeep Singh Sidhu, Manager, Shri Guru Hargobind Ujagar Hari Trust, along with the Principals of the sister institutes. Their presence added significance to the occasion and reflected the Trust’s commitment to contemporary legal education and technological advancement.The expert talk proved to be an enriching academic experience and successfully created awareness among the participants about the evolving relationship between Artificial Intelligence and legal research.
