
G.H.G. Institute of Law, Sidhwan Khurd, under the patronage of S.G.H.G.U. Hari Trust, organized a National Seminar on November 1, 2025, through its IQAC, sponsored by the College Development Council (CDC), Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The event began with a welcome address by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Shweta Dhand, followed by the presence of S. Pritam Singh Johal, Hon’ble Secretary of the Managing Committee, as a special guest.
Prof. (Dr.) Rattan Singh, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala, delivered the inaugural address, reflecting on India’s constitutional evolution and the vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Prof. (Dr.) Aarti Puri, Former Director, P.U. Regional Centre, Ludhiana, discussed India’s democratic development and the idea of “One Nation, One Election.”
Prof. (Dr.) Rashmi Khurana Nagpal of NMIMS highlighted judicial activism and landmark judgments like Kesavananda Bharati, while Dr. Varinder Singh of GNDU elaborated on the emergency provisions under Part XVIII of the Constitution.
The second technical session (hybrid mode) featured Prof. R.K. Randhawa and Advocate Rajeev Bhatia, who spoke on constitutional challenges and emergency powers. Around 30 participants presented research papers in online and offline sessions moderated by Ms. Charu Joshi and Dr. Jaswinder respectively.
In her concluding remarks, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Shweta Dhand thanked all guests, speakers, participants, and appreciated the efforts of the Seminar Committee—Dr. Jaswinder, Dr. Manjyot Kaur, Dr. Neelam Rani, Dr. Jaspal Kaur, and Ms. Charu Joshi—along with student coordinators Jasmeet Singh, Puneet Kaur, and Mansi for the successful organization of the event.
